Dr. Josh’s Story

Since I was a child, I've always dreamed of swimming in a Division 1 program.

I was relentless in my pursuit of making this dream a reality and was willing to put in whatever it takes to make it happen.

But, during my freshman year of high school, I started experiencing severe pain in the front of my right shoulder after a 400 IM race. At first, I thought it was just routine shoulder pain, but it kept getting worse. The pain became so intense that it was uncomfortable to move my shoulder, and I couldn't find a comfortable position to ease the pain.

After visiting a doctor, I found out that I had injured my rotator cuff and was told to take four weeks off from swimming. Even after following this advice, the pain didn't go away. After trying out various physical therapists, I couldn't seem to find the right fit for my needs.

I started having doubts and questions in my mind – "Is this the end of my swimming dreams? Is my injury beyond repair? Will I ever be able to compete at the collegiate level?" As a last resort, my parents connected me with a physical therapist who had experience with swimmers.

After just two sessions with him, my pain had significantly improved, and he gave me valuable feedback to prevent future shoulder injuries. Finally, everything fell into place.

This experience taught me three important things: the importance of having a provider who understands the demands of collegiate swimming, someone who understands my pain and its causes, and someone who can help me achieve my goals despite my injury.

Ultimately, I achieved my goal, but more importantly, it revealed to me my purpose and passion. My mission is clear: I want to make a difference in people's lives. I aim to be a physical therapist who understands the challenges, pain, and sources of injuries and helps individuals achieve their goals.

This is my mission: to support individuals limited by injuries and pain, and empower them to rediscover their passion.

You don’t have to remain stuck or question whether you’re beyond repair. I am here to help you find your way and reignite your love for what you do.

Find your way.

Dr. Beth’s Story

I was raised in an active family—running with my dad, learning how to do pull-ups and push-ups in our garage, and playing club and varsity volleyball through high school and college at Biola University.

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned as an athlete is the importance of mental and emotional resilience. “The game within the game,” my dad (also my volleyball coach) used to say—and that mindset has stuck with me.

In college, my friend (now husband!) Tim introduced me to CrossFit, which completely changed my trajectory. I went from working at a software company to pursuing a second degree in physical therapy.

Pickleball came next. I picked it up in 2022 during my final year of PT school thanks to my brother and aunt, and now I’m hooked. It’s a bit ironic—I hated tennis as a kid and used to launch balls over the fence more often than not. I had a fixed mindset back then, convinced I’d never be good at racquet sports. But I’ve learned that mindset is everything.

What I once saw as failure, I now see as feedback. You can always change your circumstances—and it starts with choosing hope over discouragement, progress over perfection. That shift in perspective is what transformed me not just as an athlete, but as a person.

Now, as a CrossFit and pickleball athlete—and a physical therapist—I bring that growth mindset to everything I do. Over a decade after earning my first CrossFit Level 1 certification, and now with a doctorate in physical therapy, I’m following in my dad’s footsteps: teaching others how to move well, build strength, and believe in their ability to change.

I’ve seen firsthand that healing and performance accelerate when athletes feel hopeful, encouraged, and empowered. That’s why I aim to provide not just elegant therapeutic solutions to pain and injury, but also a dose of positivity and belief—because those are just as essential to recovery as the rehab itself.
