Dr. Josh’s Story
Since I was a child, I've always dreamed of swimming in a Division 1 program.
I was relentless in my pursuit of making this dream a reality and was willing to put in whatever it takes to make it happen.
But, during my freshman year of high school, I started experiencing severe pain in the front of my right shoulder after a 400 IM race. At first, I thought it was just routine shoulder pain, but it kept getting worse. The pain became so intense that it was uncomfortable to move my shoulder, and I couldn't find a comfortable position to ease the pain.
After visiting a doctor, I found out that I had injured my rotator cuff and was told to take four weeks off from swimming. Even after following this advice, the pain didn't go away. After trying out various physical therapists, I couldn't seem to find the right fit for my needs.
I started having doubts and questions in my mind – "Is this the end of my swimming dreams? Is my injury beyond repair? Will I ever be able to compete at the collegiate level?" As a last resort, my parents connected me with a physical therapist who had experience with swimmers.
After just two sessions with him, my pain had significantly improved, and he gave me valuable feedback to prevent future shoulder injuries. Finally, everything fell into place.
This experience taught me three important things: the importance of having a provider who understands the demands of collegiate swimming, someone who understands my pain and its causes, and someone who can help me achieve my goals despite my injury.
Ultimately, I achieved my goal, but more importantly, it revealed to me my purpose and passion. My mission is clear: I want to make a difference in people's lives. I aim to be a physical therapist who understands the challenges, pain, and sources of injuries and helps individuals achieve their goals.
This is my mission: to support individuals limited by injuries and pain, and empower them to rediscover their passion.
You don’t have to remain stuck or question whether you’re beyond repair. I am here to help you find your way and reignite your love for what you do.
Find your way.
Dr. Beth’s Story
Hey guys! I’m a 33 y/o F in Southern California with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and a recent graduate of the Kaiser Permanente Southern California Orthopedic Clinical Specialty (OCS) residency.
I was raised an athlete by an active family - running with my dad and learning from him how to do pull-ups and push-ups, playing club & high school varsity volleyball as well as club & intramural volleyball in college at Biola University.
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned as an athlete is the importance of building mental and emotional resilience. "The Game Within the Game," my dad/volleyball coach would always say.
My husband (then just friend) Tim introduced me to CrossFit in college and it drastically changed my trajectory from working at a software company to pursuing a second degree in physical therapy.
I’ve officially been a pickle-baller since my last year of PT school (2022) under the influence of my brother and aunt, and am now obsessed. This comes after I detested tennis growing up, having been involuntarily enrolled in tennis lessons and summer tennis camp. As a girl with a fixed mindset, I decided I would never be good at tennis, due to every other tennis ball ending up on the outside of the fence after coming in contact with my racket. Now I realize that was a completely wrong way to look at it. You can always change your circumstances for the better.
Now I embrace that mindset, as a pickleball + CrossFit athlete, but also in my practice as a clinician. A decade after receiving my first L1 CrossFit certification and 3 years of physical therapy doctorate program later, I’m following in my dad’s footsteps by teaching other people how to do pull-ups and push-ups, how to move well, and that you can always change your circumstances for the better.
I provide elegant therapeutic solutions to vexing problems like pain and injury, and I’m known for mixing positivity in while I’m at it.
